Meanwhile, Mike's machine has been fighting virus after virus yesterday and all day today. He can barely get time in before he gets shut out again.

Yeah, Mike's a sissy, so's his computer. Says me. (Sorry, I had a bad pool day today. I got squat right today.)

Hey, E, how are you formatting your links in posts and comments?

Hey Chris,

Mike taught me the trick:

When you go to make a new post, the "toolbar" that shows font and size, bold, and italic, text color, the next one is link.

Past the link in the post, then highlight it and clink on the link button. It opens up a new window, paste it again in the little box that opens and accept it. Publish the post and you're in like Flint.

Mike is wishing he could learn to dance like the kid in the State Farm commercial. Are you guys getting bombarded with this crap. I wish I could remember the six non curse words.

Oh, well.

Thanks for the tip, but how do you do it in a comment? Can't figure it out.

Mike says just put in an tag at both ends of the url.

Chris,

use the last a with a slant line at the end of the url (/).

That makes it look right, but the link doesn't seem to do anything. It looks like a link, but isn't one, at least as far as I can tell. Before Mike tells me to cram it with walnuts, let me just say that it isn't that big a deal, I was just curious.

Don't use () symbols. you have to use the brackets. If I try to do that in a message without a url it won't let me publish it. Is that the case?

Ok, try this:
[a href="http://librarians.dontknow.html.com/"]Very informative site[/a]
just replace the '[' with '<' and ']' with '>'

"Cram it with walnuts"...Yeah, that's what I was thinking...

Hmmm, I wonder if the URL in that last comment was intended to signify anything in particular. Gee...um...duh...

Actually, you're right. I don't know a farging thing about this stuff. I usually order the gearheads who work for me to do this stuff.

Imperiously yours,

Daddy

Chris,

I have to add, that despite my complete reliance on my husband's incredible computer abilities, I do have the benefit of a top notch education at one of the top iSchools (as they now call themselves) where despite the use of 25 year-old overheads, I was able to savvy myself up to meet the challenges that lie ahead for librarians in the 21st century.

I hope I was of some assistance to you.

E

Any complaints regarding my advice can be forwarded to Mike.

Isn't savvy up yourself a Bob Marley song?

I'm so glad I went to Library School back when there were Library Schools, instead of all this new age hippy crap they do now. I couldn't have made it through without heroin or senseless violence.
