Round One, Day One scores and standings

Senors and Senoritas,

Day One is over, and frankly, it was a little dull. Of the 16 games, the higher seed won 13 of them, yawn. Of the three "upsets" two were 9 seeds beating 8 seeds. The only game of note was VCU beating Duke, which is, I think, useful not only in bringing some interest to the Pool, but also in helping right the universe's karmic balance. I have nothing against Duke or Coach Krzksjfierjdkcmdlksjodnkidfj3k5
j5kcdks*#K$MF9xjw9e9j, but enough already, right? Let somebody else play for pity's sake.

Anyway, the people at the top of the pool (Scott Silet and Bill O'Hearn, in particular) are in the lead because they are, en effete, cowards and sissies. They're winning, sure, but they are so only because they didn't have the guts to pick upsets. They'll say, no doubt, that they picked the way they did because they knew something the rest of us didn't, but on this point I find them as convincing as Rove and Gonzalez. All right, I admit it, I'm losing already and I'm jealous of the people doing better than I. Are you satisfied now that you got me to confess? Feh.

Where were we? Ah yes, scores and standings. Since VCU was an 11 seed, the four (Dykes, Silet, Matt & Dayle) each got an extra point, making a total of 17 possible for the 16 games. After Day One, then, here are the standings:

1.Bill 15
1.Silet 15
3.DavidP 13
3.Dayle 13
3.Favs 13
3.Henry 13
3.John 13
3.Matt 13
3.Steve 13
10.Calvino 12
10.Dykes 12
10.Hank 12
10.Knott 12
14.Dana 11
14.Gena 11
14.Kate 11
14.Liz 11
14.Mike 11
14.Ruth 11
14.Sarah 11
21.Maggi 10
21.Willow 10
23.Acy 9
24.DaveW
9
25.Rosalie 9
26.Alexander 8

Later tonight I'll send out a chart showing who picked which teams in tomorrow's games. In the meantime, I plan to eat some more. Of what I don't know, but I'm going to keep eating. It's the tournament, man.

Today's survey question: Mike Winkler was home today eating jalapeno poppers. What is the grossest, or unhealthiest thing you've eaten during Round One? Winner gets an elaborate and expensive prize from the Poolmeister.
